Invasive weeds and pest animals pose one of the greatest threats to the Black Range's biodiversity. This project supports coordinated, landscape-scale management through research, planning, education and practical on-ground action. Working with landholders and partner organisations, we help prioritise control efforts where they will have the greatest environmental benefit and encourage collaborative action across property boundaries.

Reading Fire Country is a collaborative initiative that brings together Traditional Owner knowledge, ecological science and local experience to better understand the role of fire in caring for Country. Through workshops, field days and shared learning, the project explores how cultural fire practices can contribute to healthier, more resilient landscapes while strengthening relationships between communities and Traditional Owners.

Restoring native vegetation is essential for protecting wildlife habitat and improving the long-term health of the Black Range. This project supports revegetation activities and the installation of exclosure fencing to protect sensitive areas from grazing, encourage natural regeneration and strengthen the ecological resilience of the landscape.

Healthy landscapes rely on collective action. This project provides practical support, resources and guidance to both members and non-members across the Black Range, helping landholders build their knowledge, manage invasive species, and participate in coordinated conservation activities that benefit the wider landscape.
Since its establishment, the Black Range Land Management Group has delivered a wide variety of successful conservation initiatives that have shaped the landscape we see today.
