Training Session for use of the I-Naturalist app

23 February 2024
Led by Elia Pirtle, Project Platypus Landcare Faciltator 5.30pm on Thurs 7th March Project Platypus office, 8 Ormston Road Stawell + online Zoom meeting (link to be shared in the week before)

Those of us at the end of 2023 gathering heard Elia talk about the virtues of i-Naturalist as a streamlined tool for learning about and registering species.

iNaturalist is an incredible and free app that lets you carry the collective knowledge of thousands of taxonomic experts in your pocket. Whether you're a seasoned naturalist or a curious beginner, there is simply no better tool for learning about and recording biodiversity.  Tonight, we will cover the ins and outs of using the iNaturalist app. From creating custom local field guides for any location on the planet (what better way to prepare for your next bushwalk), to getting identification help from an army of passionate (obsessive?) taxonomists who are just waiting for the next photo to identify. All this, plus the most state of the art flora and fauna image recognition software out there, means you just need a phone to join this important global community of nature enthusiasts dedicated to documenting and conserving the beautiful life on our planet.

In preparation for the session, have a browse here, download the app to your devices, set up a free account, and have an explore.
